Jean-Baptiste Bréval (1753 – 1823) was a French composer and cellist. His Treatise on the Violoncello, Op. 42, was published in 1804.

The Six Duetts Op. 6 for 2 Violins or Violin and Cello were written ca. 1795.

Duetto No. 4 in F Major has a first movement in sonata form, a second movement marked Andante poco Adagio, and a third movement marked Rondo Presto.
Duetto No. 5 in B-flat Major has a first movement in sonata form, a second movement marked Adagio, and a third movement marked Tempo di Minuetto.
Duetto No. 6 in D Major has a first movement in sonata form, a second movement marked Adagio, and a rondo third movement marked Presto.
